Who We Are

The Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori was established by the Rivers State Government in 1988. The Military Governor, Colonel Anthony Ukpo inaugurated the Provisional Council on May 13, 1988 and the Foundation Stone on July 20, 1988. The Edict establishing the polytechnique was signed into law by Group Captain Ernest O. Adeleye, Former Military Governor of Rivers State on March 28, 1988. He also performed the Formal Opening Ceremony of the institution on May 19,1990.


The polytechnic was established to provide courses of instruction, training and research  in Applied Sciences, Technology, Commerce, Business Management and such other fields of learning as may be determined from time to time with regards to the work force needs of the state in particular and of the Federation in general, especially the development of middle- level manpower.
Pioneer students of Rivers State Polytechnic were admitted during the 1988/89 academic year and academic activities started on 27th February, 1989.

Location:
Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori situated at Bori, the Headquarters of Khana Local Government Area, is about 56 kilometers from the city of Port Harcourt. It is on Zaakpon Road in the C amp uses formerly occupied by two institutions, namely: Regina Caeli Teacher’s Training College (T.T.C) and the Government Technical College (GTC), Bori. The two campuses are now renamed the School of Management Sciences Campus and School of Engineering Campus respectively. Zaakpon Road branches from Hospital Road on the right immediately after the Bori Model Motor Park when approaching the School from Port Harcourt.
